The sister festival to the well renowned Bestival; Rob Da Bank’s brainchild ‘Common People Festival’ is a 2 day, non-camping festival of music, good food and pure entertainment and for the second year running, we were invited to go along.
Southampton; the old hometown of this year’s headline act, Craig David; sees the common transform into a festival site in a matter of days leading up to the weekend. It’s not huge, but it’s certainly not small either with each day of the weekend seeing roughly 40,000 festival goers set foot on the playing fields.
With outstanding performances from Craig David and Duran Duran the supporting acts included, my favourites, Jamie Lawson, Public Enemy, Ghostpoet, Lady Leshurr and Katy B.
However it wasn’t just the music that was great about the festival, this year we saw the world’s biggest bouncy castle come to town.
Overall the whole festival experience was great, I especially liked that there was music of all genres, new and old for all audiences.
Saturday – Primal Scream, Craig David’s TS5, Public Enemy, Ghostpoet, The Sugarhill Gang, Lady Leshurr, The Chuckle Brothers
Sunday – Duran Duran, Katy B, Jamie Lawson, The Cuban Brothers, Chas & Dave, DJ Goldierocks
