It’s an exciting time to be in Mother Mother as this Vancouver rock fivesome is gearing up for the release of their sixth record. Today AMBY is pleased to premiere the film-clip for The Drugs, an electric first taste of what’s to come from the forthcoming album.
The song, co-written by frontman Ryan Guldemond and percussionist Ali Siadat (amongst others), features Mother Mother’s trademark eerie harmonies and contagiously upbeat melodies. When asked about the video, Ryan shared with us;
“The Drugs is about finding an avenue to effect positive change for oneself, and how emotionally turbulent—even violent—this can feel, especially with regards to overcoming addiction and depression. We wanted a stark and simple video to help depict this very human topic. No fantasy, no flamboyant wardrobe, just an honest performance and some subtle, yet clear metaphors, like water, fire, and youth.”
Exclusively watch Mother Mother get sprinkled with glitter, sing in a bathtub, and hand paint white walls in The Drugs on AMBY and follow updates from the band below. Mother Mother’s new album is scheduled for release in early 2017.
