Jamie T made a triumphant return to Manchester treating the Apollo to an anarchic set behind a biblical backdrop. He showcased tracks of his most recent album Trick as well as the classics we all know and love.
Jamie T started off as he meant to go on smashing out two of the best tracks from his newest album. Power Over Men and Tescoland are incredible songs and set the mood perfectly for the night ahead. There is no one quite like Jamie T gigging at the moment and his show filled a hole that a lot of people were very much missing.
After some new songs, Jamie T then went on to perform such classics as Salvador, Don’t You Find, and, crowd favourite, If You Got the Money. Nothing beats the atmosphere of a gig when everyone is singing and rapping in unison and you could really tell that Jamie loved it to.
He went on to play tune after tune whilst engaging with the audience and somehow making a sell-out Apollo seem very personal. Highlights included the brilliant Sheila, Rabbit Hole and, what he is most famous for, Sticks ‘N’ Stones. It seemed a lot of the crowd had grown up with Jamie T’s music and you could really tell how appreciative everyone was of the effort put into the energetic performance.
Jamie T finished on the brilliant Back in the Game, and the radio-loving Zombie. Jamie T never seems to play a bad gig, but this was seemed to be particularly good. What a treat.
