Harmony-masters The Katherines have always shown passion and heart in their music. Their debut record To Bring You My Heart is no exception, as those lovable qualities are shown on the release in both ear candy and the title.
Last summer AMBY had the delight of hosting a five part series with The Katherines entitled Summer Sessions, and in those posts we shared that these extremely talented ladies would be making big waves in 2017, and we were right. This genre-crossing debut embodies all of of the characteristics that made us immediately fall in love with this Vancouver trio — it’s genuine, seductive, packed with upbeat pop bangers, and steeped in their immaculate harmonies.
Today AMBY is thrilled to give our viewers an exclusive first listen to the album in its entirety, all ahead of its official release. When asked about the record, Kate Kurdyak shared with AMBY;
“This album was born out of love. An all-consuming, sanity swindling rollercoaster of a first love. The intensity of that spark lit a fire that burned red, and blue, and gold. The album mirrors the emotional rollercoaster of teenage-hood and love through it’s genre jumping nature. There are sultry songs like Primitive and TBYMH, break-up ballads Better Off Now and Heart on the Table, driving electric guitar songs Blank Page and Minefield, the pop parody Wrong Side of the Bed and the 50s inspired You. Each song had its own muse, and as the album unfolded it became clear that the real object of my obsession was not any one individual, it was music. When you feel a deep passion for something you become subservient to it, you surrender your heart to it for life. To Bring You My Heart is the culmination of that surrender.”
Exclusively indulge the debut on AMBY and follow updates from The Katherines below. The Katherines is Kate Kurdyak, Lauren Kurdyak, Kaitlyn Hansen-Boucher. To Bring You My Heart is scheduled for release on January 13th via 604 Records.
