I typically don’t do this, but I’m going to start this premiere off fairly blunt: I really, really fell head over heals for this song when I first heard it.
Canadian trio Ivory Hours are gearing up for the release of their new record Dreamworld. Ahead of its official unveiling on June 10th, we’re pleased to give fans a taste of what’s to come by premiering the album’s official single, the kinetic alternative-pop earworm inspired by romantic hope: Only One.
There’s something extremely relatable about Only One. I’m sure many of us have fallen for someone and never realized how great they were until they’re gone. It’s a fairly simple concept for a song, yet Ivory Hours put a tender and realistic spin on it — you can hear the desire in the vocal performance, the lyrics immediately tug on my hopeless romantic heartstrings, and its danceable, flourishing groove is contagious. When asked about the single, frontman Luke Roes shared with us;
Only One is about an old love that won’t go away. It’s about taking a person for granted and understanding later just how rare and perfect they were. All you can do is hope for a second chance.
To celebrate the album’s release, Ivory Hours will host an album release party at The Horseshoe Tavern on June 9th. Indulge in Only One on AMBY to explore Ivory Hours’ Dreamworld and follow updates from the band below.
