Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ The Dead Famous

The Dead FamousEnergetic, melodic and cutting-edge: This is The Dead Famous. The Dead Famous left a lasting impression on me the first time I heard their cover of Dakota by Stereophonics. It was a lovely cover, and once I discovered their own music I was overjoyed. Dan Hetherton took the time to speak with AMBY about live shows, Aqua, dream gigs and more, so take a look!

AMBY: For those who haven’t had the pleasure of hearing you, how would you describe The Dead Famous’ sound in three words?

DH: Basically rock / pop but with quite a few electronic influences, driving and powerful!

AMBY: How did the band come to form?

DH: Myself (Dan, Elliot Minor) and James of Go Audio had just parted ways with our previous bands and were keen to crack on with a new project and stay within the industry, it’s all sounding great so far!

AMBY: You recently released your debut video for the song Hide Your Halo, how was the experience filming it?

DH: Amazing actually! We’re still getting used to working with each other ;) It was great filming it, the location was amazing and went a lot better than we had expected to be honest!

AMBY: If you could cover any song, which would it be and why?

DH: Well we actually already covered DAKOTA by Stereophonics, you can check it out at

AMBY: Which three albums changed your life?

DH: Well, despite my first CD I bought being AQUA… I’d say Audioslave’s first, all of John Mayers and… Goo Goo Dolls?

AMBY: What can people expect at your live shows?

DH: Energy and powerful songs! Love performing and are quite OCD when it comes to making the live show sound pristine!

AMBY: How would you define success for yourselves as a band?

DH: To make a career in the music industry playing the tracks we love to people who have love for us.

AMBY: Who’s the best band in the world? …And who’s the worst?

DH: Aqua, Aqua.

AMBY: Describe your dream gig and who would be on the bill with you.

DH: Us, Muse, Foo Fighters, PSI, Sophia Bush (we understand she doesn’t sing, but I’m sure she could be useful)

AMBY: How important has social media been to your success?

DH: Very much so! We make sure we reply to all comments and tweets whenever we can, love getting feedback from fans!

AMBY: What is the best song of 2012 so far?

DH: HUMM. To be honest I haven’t listened to many… I’m stuck 2010!

AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about The Dead Famous that nobody knows yet?

DH: Currently signing new management, and hopefully world domination is on the horizon!

Check out the band’s tour dates here and merchandise here, we came across it the other day and there are some really neat items there! Lastly, thank you Dan, for giving us your answers!
