There is always something exciting about stumbling upon a song that hooks you, particularly one that you can’t seem to get out of your head. Having recently heard Hold on to the Metal, I was taken aback and instantly craved more. Learning that the song was written by Winnipeg’s Royal Canoe, I was even more pleased to learn this fantastic band was Canadian. Always looking to become more learned on the local scene, I hounded the internet for more of their songs and became hooked.
Described as a band “armed with falsettos, guitars, effects pedals, drums, basses, tambourines, shakers and a six-keyboard super-weapon”, their music really knows how to get you excited. Layered, quick paced, and musically varied, their tunes are inventive and extremely catchy.
Hold on to the Metal is not only dancy, but musically stimulating and an amazing track to loop on repeat. With varied instruments, beats, tempos and clever lyrics, listening to this track will make you want to stop whatever you’re doing and jive.
Feel like a taste of Winnipeg? Then You’ve GOT to Hear This, Eh.
