Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Motorama

MotoramaFor years Motorama have maintained a spot in my All-Time Favourite Songs list with their brilliant track Ghost. So even with their “hate” for interviews, the band took the time to speak with AMBY about favourite tracks, memorable tour moments and all things Motorama.

AMBY: Hey Motorama! What has the group been up to lately?

Motorama: We were shooting materials for the new video clip.

AMBY: The band has such a distinct sound! What inspires you as musicians?

Motorama: I don’t know, maybe Rostov-on-Don, the weather.

AMBY: What are your feelings on Alps now that you’ve had time to reflect on it?

Motorama: I’m trying not to look back. There’s no interest in our past stuff for me.

AMBY: Does hailing from Russia had an influence on your music? And if so, how?

Motorama: Yes, I think it has. But I don’t know exactly.

AMBY: Calendar is a great album, which tracks are your favourite off it?

Motorama: Hard question. I guess good answer will be «Rara hands of copococoneko»

AMBY: Ghost still stands as one of my favourite songs ever. What’s a song you’ll never get enough of?

Motorama: My fave is Sebastien Tellier- Universe.

AMBY: You’ll be playing many shows in Europe over the next couple months. Are there any plans of Motorama visiting North America?

Motorama: We had plans for 2012, but then we didn’t get US visas. Maybe in future we will be luckier.

AMBY: What is the most memorable moment you have had while touring?

Motorama: I remember all small nice gifts and people that presented them to us, self-made cookies, badges, posters, weird magnets, postcards etc etcetc.

AMBY: What’s your favourite Motorama lyric?

Motorama: Please don’t ask me about words, I hate all of them.

AMBY: Which three albums changed your life?

Motorama: Soviet band called Kino (all albums), The Smiths– Hatful of Hollow, The Strokes– Is This It

AMBY: What is the best song of 2012?

Motorama: Hood by Perfume Genius.

AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Motorama that nobody knows yet?

Motorama: We love Japanese cousin and hate interviews.
