This Scottish quartet have been rocking since 2005. From their ridiculously addictive debut album Hats Off to the Buskers, to their latest, explosive album Cheeky for a Reason, The View have become a music staple. With charismatic vocals, and hooks that can kill, our love for the band is ever-growing. So we spoke with The View’s Kieren Webster and Pete Reilly to not only see what’s new, but to also talk about music videos, live shows, and they explain to us why they are cheeky for a reason!
AMBY: Cheeky for a Reason is a very lively and magnetic new record. How do you think the band’s playing has evolved since your first album?
The View: The first album we never used piano’s and harmony’s because we wanted it to sound raw. As we’ve got older we have developed as musician and musical taste has also changed (K)
AMBY: I’m loving all the backing vocals on Cheeky for a Reason, especially in Bullet and Hole in the Bed. Where did the influence for this come from?
The View: Kyle is obsessed with harmony’s and big part of the band now, his favourite band is Fleetwood Mac (P),
AMBY: Is the title of the album a reflection of the band’s attitude?
The View: Yes, it’s important not to take yourself to seriously (P) and also a line in the track Bullet. (K)
AMBY: About midway through the album there is a Piano Interlude. What was the inspiration or intent behind this?
The View: I’m a big fan of musicals such as “Jesus Christ Super Star” “Rocky Horror Pictures Show” (K)
AMBY: What’s one of your favourite lyrics The View has?
The View: My spectacles neither shaded or see through, but your never read into my eyes when purchased up next to you (K) Track Bullet.

The View: Shock Horror as it was the most fun to make (P)
AMBY: Your music is so energetic, so what can people expect from your live shows?
The View: A fun show that’s never the same twice (P)
AMBY: On the topic of live gigs and with the new album recently released, there’s been quite a bit of touring going on! What’s been the best moment on tour so far?
The View: Coming to American and playing this tour, it’s a dream come true for the band (P)
AMBY: What has you excited for 2013?
