Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ ON AN ON

Chicago-Minneapolis dream-pop trio ON AN ON are Nate Eiesland, Alissa Ricci, and Ryne Estwing. They have crafted a gorgeous sound which is drenched with spell-binding harmonies and luscious melodies.  Playing with Savoir Adore this Friday at The Drake in Toronto, AMBY wanted to catch up with the band before the show to see what’s new. So we spoke with ON AN ON about being fueled by Mexican food and Phó, streakers, and new laws!

AMBY: How would you describe ON AN ON’s sound to those unfamiliar with your music?

ON AN ON: A Bitches Brew of dreams, chaos, and electricity.

AMBY: You have just released your debut album Give In. What are your favourite tracks off the record?

ON AN ON: They’re all our favorites for different reasons. Each one is an anchor for the record as a whole.

AMBY: Ghosts is a splendid song, what is the story behind it?

ON AN ON: Thank you. Ghosts is a song that examines the idea that maybe the folklore that surrounds death and the afterlife in our culture is way off.

AMBY: Which bands have you been listening to lately?

ON AN ON: Flaming Lips, Altas Sound, Big Freedia.

AMBY: You are about to embark on a pretty extensive tour. What can people expect at your live shows?

ON AN ON: They can expect to be sensually immersed until they realize their ability to breathe under the proverbial water, then probably a sudden rush of inner peace. Or, they can expect to just see a good show. It’s really up to them.

AMBY: What is the funniest thing to happen to you at one of your gigs?

ON AN ON: One word… Streakers.

AMBY: What would a movie based on your life be called?

ON AN ON: Big 2.

AMBY: Which three albums changed your life?

ON AN ON: Nevermind , Neon Golden, Songs of Love and Hate.

AMBY: Who is your must follow on Twitter?

ON AN ON: @RobDelaney

AMBY: What has you excited for 2013?

ON AN ON: Loads of touring with awesome bands, site seeing and beach days at sea.

AMBY: If you could create a law that everyone would have to follow, what would it be?

ON AN ON: Be excellent to each other.

AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about ON AN ON that nobody knows yet?

ON AN ON: We are %100 fueled by Mexican food and Phó.

Thank you ON AN ON, for giving us your answers!
