Reading and Leeds // Preview

Reading and LeedsReading and Leeds is back in 2013, riding high off not only one of their best festivals to date but also winning NME’s ‘Festival of the Year’ award last year, with one of their most eclectic line-ups to date.

Iconic rapper Eminem will headline on the Saturday at Reading, making it his second time headlining the festival, since his first headline appearance in 2001. Love him or hate him, his live performances are becoming rarer by the minute and it’s set to be one of the most talked about performances of the year. Pop-punkers Green Day, played a packed out secret set last year at Reading Festival proving that crowds still respond to old hits such as American Idiot, and are returning to Reading to headline the main stage. Elsewhere on the main stage, those fans of loud, pop-punk such as Green Day will be pleased with acts such as Don Broco, Bring Me the Horizon, Lower Than Atlantis, While She Sleeps and many more bringing a certain metal vibe to the festival.

On the dance front, the controversial Azealia Banks will sub-headline the NME/Radio 1 Stage. Hot off the heels of her performance at Glastonbury on the Other Stage, Banks will prove that her cult hits such as 212, will get people dancing, singing and most probably cursing… Skrillex, Major Lazer and 2013 breakout brothers, Disclosure will also bring a dance atmosphere to Reading and Leeds this year.

2013 has definitely seem some incredible debut albums from stellar indie acts such as Peace, FIDLAR, Deap Vally, Kodaline, Theme Park, and Palma Violets as well as many others, who are all performing at Reading and Leeds this year. For readers that love indie music as much as we do over at AMBY, you’ll certainly be kept entertained.

The line-up proves that Reading and Leeds is more diverse than ever this year, meaning it’s more the fun! Without a doubt, there is something for everyone so there’s no reason as to why Reading and Leeds won’t provide an extremely enjoyable Bank Holiday Weekend, if not become one of the major highlights of the festival season in 2013.
