Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Bear Hands

Bear Hands

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York comes indie rockers Bear Hands (Dylan Rau, Ted Feldman, Val Loper, and TJ Orscher). October 22nd marked the US and Canadian release of the quartet’s new single Giants, an extremely melodic and groovy song that would easily remain with any listener. In a recent interview, we spoke with vocalist Dylan Rau about their love for capital letters, a new record, and success! Check it out here:

AMBY: Hello Bear Hands, cheers for speaking with AMBY today. What’s the band been up to lately?

Bear Hands: Making some business moves, getting ready to go on tour early 2014, surfing the internets.

AMBY: How would you describe each member of Bear Hands in one word?

Bear Hands: Ted- Reasonable, Val- Anxious, TJ- Righteous, Me- Troubled.

AMBY: You released your new single Giants on October 22nd. This is your first release in a year. How’s it feel to have some new music out there now?

Bear Hands: Finally! Feels like a long time coming and there’s way more around the corner.

AMBY: “I am loving you more” keeps ringing in my head, and I’m loving it! What inspired your new single?

Bear Hands: Not sure, late night in my basement at my parent’s house.

AMBY: Is there a new record or an EP in the works?

Bear Hands: Yes, tons to be announced very soon. Looking forward to it boiiiii.

AMBY: Does hailing from Brooklyn have an influence on your sound? And if so, how?

Bear Hands: I dunno, been here too long and I’m losing objectivity. Love it here tho, excellent pals and nightlife.

AMBY: Which other bands from Brooklyn should we be keeping our eyes on?

Bear Hands: Fort Lean!

AMBY: It seems that the band loves typing in capital letters, is there a particular reason for this? Or can you not contain your excitement?!

Bear Hands: I’ve always been a capital guy. I know it’s considered rude on the internet but I dunno, it doesn’t offend me. It’s not like someone actually shouting in your ear. Plus we need to differentiate our identities on Twitter.

AMBY: What’s the best release of the year so far?

Bear Hands: Run the Jewels – Killer Mike + El-P

AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Bear Hands that nobody knows yet?

Bear Hands: Whether or not we’re gonna be successful.

Thank you Bear Hands, for giving us your answers!
