Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Rue Royale

Rue Royale

Nottingham husband and wife duo Rue Royale (Brookln and Ruth Dekker) released their third record Remedies Ahead last year. To learn about their favourite tracks off the record, its beautiful artwork, and all things Rue Royale, have a look at A Music Blog, Yea?‘s recent chat with the couple…

AMBY: Hello Rue Royale, what have you been up to recently?

Rue Royale: In September, we released our third full length album Remedies Ahead and have been touring like crazy!

AMBY: Your third album Remedies Ahead was released on September 6th. What is the significance behind the album’s title?

Rue Royale: It was taken from a lyric in one of the album’s tracks Set Out To Discover. We tend to write in the language of travel and journeying. Remedies Ahead is like the proverbial dangling carrot that keeps us going.

AMBY: Which songs are your favourite off the album?

Rue Royale: We like them all.

AMBY: What inspired the LP’s beautiful artwork?

Rue Royale: David Litchfield our illustrator friend worked with us exploring the themes that come up in the songs. He’s a mastermind.

AMBY: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?

Rue Royale: Life. It’s no specific place, it’s everything we do.

AMBY: What’s the funniest thing to happen to you at a gig?

Rue Royale: We’ve had people interrupt the show before  so that they could buy a CD before they have to leave. That was weird and quite funny. Also, Ruth’s glockenspiel exploded during a song. That was another weird one..

AMBY: If you could choose to have your music featured in any movie or show, which would you choose?

Rue Royale: Bored To Death. We love that show!

AMBY: What’s the best release of the year?

Rue Royale: Amok by Atoms for Peace.

AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Rue Royale that nobody knows yet?

Rue Royale: We just finished a 5 day Juice detox. We love juicing.

Thank you Rue Royale, for giving us your answers!
