This Birmingham, UK band have really only been active since the back-end of 2012 live and music posted online halfway through 2013 in their monumental buzz wave that’s been created. The four members Dom Ganderton (lead vocals/guitar), Ryan Malcolm (vocals/lead guitar), Emily Baker (bass) and Carl Griffen (drums). Lifted from their fresh-out-of-the-box Mam EP, the lead single initially allows you to believe that it’s a song about someone who can’t get fourty-winks without the TV on. On closer inspection it could appear to be about someone missing that is home-comfort routine/object that makes them feel comfortable in any situation.
This is really a catchy little number that is as British as a cup of Twinings Tea, with comparisons and influences easily can be directed to Britpop bands such as Blur and Pavement. With Dom’s brilliant vocals that at the beginning offset those mucky drawn out riffs that build inconspicuously like a child playing with Lego into a whirlwhind of frantic tempo indie that’s quite simply ace! The vocals that are hurled at you with crystal clarity, that they never get lost is a feat that most similar vocalist never achieve, before they mellow out.
After one play I’ll guarantee this song will be stuck in your head and reaching for that replay button; all together now “I can never sleep!”
