Here at AMBY we love it when social media throws new connections and partnerships together. And that’s just what happened when we featured Litsoma’s first iPad recorded demo of “The Wave” last September . James Patrick of Pet Friends got in touch to say he was interested in re-recording the track with the band at Smokehouse Studios. Although singer and guitar player Jordan Lewis’s then dislocated shoulder put paid to that in the short term, James and the band got together for a recording session earlier this year.
The result of that session is not just a beefed up version of “The Wave” but also a brand new track “Control”. It’s a compelling listen, whose swirling guitars echo those of the anthemic “Sproston Green” by The Charlatans. Time will tell whether “Control” develops into the same sort of goose bump inducing show closer that “Sproston Green” became, and a few more live dates can only help as Litsoma develop their performance and stage craft. But in the meantime there’s lot’s to enjoy about the track, including the immortal lyric: “He won’t stop fiddling, so you pumped him full of Ritalin”. And with striking new artwork by Toby Dexter accompanying Litsoma’s new sounds, there’s plenty to keep your attention in credit.
