Street Party in Soho have previously caught the attention of the likes of The Guardian, Xfm, and Amazing Radio as a bright musical prospect hailing from the North East of England. “17” marks something of a new start for the young Newcastle quartet, being their first release since leaving management.
Produced by Mike Smith (Polarsets) and recorded at YStudio in North Shields “17” is a delightfully upbeat track that almost has a calypso feel to it – a real summer vibe. Released on 3 July the track is driven along with the rhythm section of Nathan Hogg on drums and Harry Webb on bass (the latter no doubt tired of the Cliff Richard references his name throws up). Ryan Young provides the lead vocals and guitar along with Jackson Vert.
“17” is a very promising return for a band who have already been making waves, with more tunes in prospect this summer. And having recently supported King Charles the band are making a name for themselves on the live circuit too. With prominent backers 2014 is shaping up to be a very good year for the band.
