You’ve GOT to See This: Ceiling Demons – “Amputated Spirit”

Ceiling Demons
Taking it’s starting cue from an impassioned speech from Al Pacino in the movie “Scent of a Woman” Ceiling Demon’s “Amputated Spirit” is a dark slice of alternative hip hop that nevertheless has a counterpoint in a positive sounding chorus and lush string section throughout. James Bird’s black and white video filmed in Leeds with the band’s masked performance provides an appropriate visual companion piece to the track.

Twin brother MCs Psy “Ceiling” and Dan “Demon” Harrison along with producer Beat Demon make up the Yorkshire collective who have garnered the attention of Tom Robinson at BB 6 Music, Scroobius Pip at Xfm as well as the folk at Amazing Radio. 2014 has shaped up to be quite a year with support slots with De La Soul and Young Fathers being notable high points so far.

The band have now put out their album “Dual Sides” to download on their BandCamp page. It’s an assured debut which has won them rave reviews. Well worth checking them out and keeping track of what’s happening next.
