I’m O. Chapman from Brighton, UK. You may know me as the 5 times winner of Elle Magazine’s ‘Magic Thighs’ Award or as the tallest man west of the river Danube but when I’m not being a thighsaurus I write and record songs. In my awkward teens I was mainly into Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Drake, and Simon and Garfunkel — I taught myself how to finger pick the guitar and for the next few years played at as many of the London acoustic nights as I could. This mainly involved me playing quiet songs in the corner of very loud, sweaty venues – people would shout ‘Hey magic thighs! Get off the frickin’ stage!” Those gigs were always a losing battle but at least it was character building. After moving to Brighton a couple of years ago I was introduced to bands like Slowdive, MBV, Pavement, True Widow, and Deerhunter and so I formed a band to record my second EP ‘Discomfort.’ The EP was recorded in a bedroom and took the best part of a year to make. We now play shows regularly around Brighton and London and are looking to record a new set of songs in the next year. I have also been known to morph into a long tailed weasel on stage (normally during the encore) so I would recommend you coming along if we play near you – it’s quite a good party trick.
Love,
OC xx
