While in Honolulu and before embarking on their Aussie Tour, A Music Blog, Yea? spoke with post hardcore/pop punk outfit The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to discuss their fourth studio album 4, long flights, culture shock in Bangkok, and wanting people to love each other. Enjoy!
AMBY: Hello The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, thanks for speaking with us today! You’re currently in Honolulu — how’s the trip treating you all?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: Hawaii has been amazing. We are here with our family to celebrate Thanksgiving and so far it has been a blast.
AMBY: You soon embark on an Australian Tour. When it comes to touring, which items are quintessential to have with you?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: I must have my iPad Air and my Nintendo 3DS for those long flights and airport layovers.
AMBY: You’ve been playing shows for years now. At which location or point in touring have you felt like you were in a totally different world, or endured culture shock?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: Bangkok was the most insane for sure. Also Japan, no matter which way you turn everything you see is completely different and new and fascinating.
AMBY: All of this touring is in support of your recently released fourth record 4. With all of the other names out there, what was the significance to you behind calling the album, simply, 4?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: The album title 4 signified our 4th full length but also coincided with our release date July 4th. We chose July 4th because it’s the celebration of freedom which is why that album and all of our music is now free on www.redjumpsuit.com.
AMBY: I noticed on Facebook that the band uses the “listening to” tool a lot in your posts. Which new artists or releases would you recommend our readers check out and start listening to?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: We like all types and genres of music but my current favorite is totally Nico and Vinz!
AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus that nobody knows yet?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: Above all we want people to love each other like God does us and to know that there is always someone who loves you.
Thank you The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, for giving us your answers!
