Getting Cozy With: We Were Evergreen

We Were Evergreen
Dear everyone.

This is Fabienne, William, and Michael.

We are We Were Evergreen, a three-piece from three different parts of France. We met in Paris in 2008 when we were still students.

About three years after that, we moved to London, UK, and have been here ever since.

Our music, much like muesli, is a blend of different delicious elements.

Our first album is called ‘Towards’, it came out last year and you should really listen to it, as a matter of fact here it is.

These days we spend time writing and arranging new songs in Fabienne’s room in Archway. There’s a cat, a ballaphon, and some keyboards.

A few months ago we recorded this with Charlie Andrew (namedropping alert: he produced Alt-J’s albums).

It’s a cover of Disney’s The Jungle Book – that monkey song (you know the one).

The original lyrics have a deeper, more human meaning when taken out of the Disney context and they echo the themes of our album: identity, belonging, metamorphosis. That’s why we wanted to make our own version.

We hope you like it.
