Back in August of 2013, AMBY received an email submission from Kent’s Get Inuit. As many of you know, we pride ourselves on listening to everything that comes through our inbox, so we sometimes hear up to 250+ new bands per day. With so much music in one short span of time, it’s amazing to see all of the new talent out there but can be difficult to find that one melody which sticks in your head for days. When it came to Get Inuit, their quirky charm and catchy music instantly stood out and have been favourites ever since.
Fast forward two years later, the dirty-pop foursome are gearing up for the release of their four track EP entitled Luge Lessons. The band have taken their DIY attitude towards the creation of the release to heart as their guitarist James recorded and produced the whole thing while their drummer Rob created the music videos and all of the artwork.
Serving as the follow up to their debut 001, the sophomore EP explodes with fuzzy garage-pop earworms from the shimmering piece of indie-rock that is I Am The Hot Air, to the slow-burning and head-nod inducing Electrify, to Pro Procrastinator which is one contagious whirlwind of a song, and the melodically lush record closer On & On.
When asked about the release, Jamie shared with us;
“We wanted to make an EP of four separate songs that can somehow be joined together by the most delicate string as opposed to writing an EP of one sound in four different shells. Most of all, we just wanted to write something that we loved, and perhaps strangely what with our ever pessimistic visions, we have done that.”
In support of the EP, Get Inuit will hit the road this October and November to play some select dates with Broken Hands. Exclusively stream Luge Lessons on AMBY and follow updates from the band below. Luge Lessons is out this Friday (October the 16th) via Alcopop! Records.
