We are Tourists – an alternative 5-piece from the exotic seaside town of Torquay in the UK.
A blend of intricate guitar melodies, curvy art-funk bass lines and 80’s synth leads, our sound reflects our deep-rooted post-punk influences but with a modern, psychedelic spin. (That’s my pretentious attempt at a description, but feel free to go make your own opinion…)
So… Where did it all begin, you wonder?
The writing process started in 2012 when founding members Jamie (vocals/guitar) and Scott (drums) bought some basic recording equipment to produce the debut Fear Grows EP. The record – produced at home by Scott – was by no means perfect in sound quality but essentially succeeded in capturing an identity – one that still resonates through our sound today.
In 2013 came the release of second EP Hidden Desires with label In At The Eye Records. Singles We’ll Talk About It and Background became instant hits, drawing support from BBC Radio 2 and XFM. Later that year we were invited into our regional BBC Introducing studio, becoming the first band to play a full set live on air.
After a quiet, transitional year in the shadows we are back and are now working on material for our debut album.
We offer to you our new single ‘All We Do Is Pretend’, which is OUT NOW (available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and all those other ones…)
