“Love” is the latest single from funky indie four piece The Assist. Hailing from Walsall, the band formed in 2014 and last year even released a track chronicling their beloved football team’s journey to the JPT Cup Final in the shape of single “Walsall FC Go To Wembley”.
Filmed by Ryan and Jon of “So Called Studios” the video for “Love” is a perfect showcase for the band’s very danceable take on indie. The track has a modern day anthemic quality that’s likely to be at home on the terraces as it is in the clubs and pubs. Taken together with Mikey Stanton’s distinctive lead vocals the band put me very much in mind of a Flowered Up for the 21st Century.
Along with Mikey, The Assist are comprised of brother Ryan Stanton on guitar, bassist Jak Baker, and drummer Ben Faulkner. Having undertaken a string of festival slots and a full UK tour in 2015, you can catch The Assist’s infectious melodies and indie grooves live at London’s Surya on April 21st.
