Colour Film is the new project of Matthew de Zoete, a Hamilton-based singer and songwriter who had prior released three solo full-length records. Today AMBY is pleased to premiere Super 8, a six-song EP which will 1) re-introduce fans to de Zoete and his heartfelt music or 2) introduce music lovers to a new favourite release. The EP features calming, charming harmonies by Julie Fader (of Etiquette, Great Lake Swimmers) and was produced by Les Cooper (Jill Barber, Good Lovelies).
With its sentimental yet relatable lyrics and cinematic soundscapes, Super 8 soaks in nostalgia from its title to its honest, atmospheric songs. When asked about the EP, de Zoete shared with us;
“With Super 8, I’ve tried for a body of songs that act like home movies or a slide show in the listener’s imagination, flashing characters, situations, and emotions that are familiar but open to interpretation. Maybe triggering a spark of recognition.”
Exclusively stream the Super 8 EP on AMBY, follow updates from Colour Film, and indulge in the new video for the EP’s opener The Money’s On The Dresser below. Super 8 is scheduled for release on April 8th via Ship Records.
