You’ve GOT to Hear This: Suspects – “Cigarettes and Cheap Wine”

Chelmsford based four piece Suspects have sprung into the spotlight in the last few weeks with their debut release “Cigarettes and Cheap Wine” racking up an impressive 3500+ plays on SoundCloud in just a fortnight. A track that shows a lot of potential has singer Max Carnegie-Riviere mull over teenage occupations and pre-occupations of love, cigarettes and booze, but with vulnerability not bravado as the the counterbalancing refrain “And you’re lonely, and your lonely” kicks in.

It’s a catchy, accomplished first release that showcases their promise, hinting at the finished article they could become. Already hard at work on follow up tracks “You See Colour” and “Navigation Road”, Suspects are well worth keeping an eye on as we rapidly speed into 2017. Joining Max on vocals, Suspects are Nathan Mortimer on drums, Tom Nguyen on guitar, and Jon Hughes on bass.
