Toronto-based trio The Junction are readying themselves for the release of their dark, hypnotic song Who Am I. Taken from their forthcoming record City Nights, AMBY is thrilled to premiere the inquisitive track before its release on March 10th.
Who Am I makes for one enchanting song as its irresistible bass groove, dreamy vocals, and playfully driven synths are flawlessly fused with old-school seventies atmospherics. When asked about the song, the band’s Brent Jackson shared with us;
“As the title implies, “Who Am I” is a self-reflection piece posing the question of the internal connection with oneself. It’s crucial to be certain of who you are in order to be assertive when mingling in the outside world. The song came from a darker place, a personal place, and acknowledges anxieties felt from social environments. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t hang around if it isn’t your scene. If you feel off or something’s not right, act on it. You’ll understand the importance of taking that step if you know who you are.”
To celebrate the album’s release, the band will reel in the summer with a record release show at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in their hometown on June 3rd. Exclusively stream Who Am I on AMBY and follow updates from The Junction below.
City Nights is scheduled for release on May 19th via Culvert Music and is available for pre-order here. The Junction is Brent Jackson (guitar/vocals), Matt Jameson (bass), and Mike Taylor (drums).
